Windows 7 pre-orders selling out fast in Europe

If you’re reading this and haven’t preordered a copy of Windows 7E in one of the participating EU countries, you may not have a chance to do so. The Microsoft Store crashed soon after July 15th came in the UK, while preorders for Windows 7 E sold out on Amazon Germany and France in less than an hour. To be more specific, Amazon France sold out in about 40 minutes while Germany’s Home Premium sold at the €49.97 price sold out in 10 minutes! Amazon UK told BBC said that sales for Windows 7 in the first eight hours of the preorder promotion surpassed Windows Vista’s 17-week preorder period.

At time of writing, only Windows 7 E Professional preorders are available on Amazon UK. Amazon Germany has upped the price of Windows 7 preorders to €80.02, stating that its €49.97 preorders have sold out. Users who can no longer buy from Amazon may want to consider smaller retailers in their locale.
