This Best Buy memo, accidentally leaked to the public, was released detailing upgrade plans of Windows 7 and how “This new operating system isn’t just a “Vista that works” program – it’s a new operating system with improved productivity, functionality and creativity that uses less computer resources.”
The memo also explains how, if you bought a PC between June 26th, 2009 and October 2nd, 2009 (Windows 7 release date), you are eligible for a free update to Windows 7, depending on what you already have (Windows Vista Home Premium upgrades to Windows 7 Home Premium). Starting on June 26th, Best Buy will start preselling Windows 7 at their website: $49.99 for Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade, $99.99 for Windows 7 Professional Upgrade. Thanks to this leaked memo, we know that the best time to buy a PC would be after June 26th.
